STUCK || USTUCK [NEW YEAR INTENTIONS]

There are many things I can criticize about new years festivities. I can maybe even get mad that the goals I had set up for the end of 2011 weren't even half completed. It's hard to look back but there is something so refreshing about a new year as well. It's a new slate. Well, in my mind it is.

I've been reading Gabrielle Bernstein's 'Add More ~Ing to Your Life' and as you all remember [or not] I really do believe in the power of change through constant reminders. Of removing whatever is you feel that is taking away some of that happiness in your life. Last year, I dealt with some hardcore issues involving quitting my job on a whim, being incredibly unhealthy and lots of what I call 'family stress'. This book is helping me channel whatever it is that is left lingering, any past feelings of guilt, powerlessness and emotional blockage so I can overcome them and begin this path of finding happiness. Oh, and don't get me wrong. I'm not moping around or sad. In fact, I feel pretty happy already. But, I found that the key to keeping in check with whatever my goals are, is to constantly work towards them. Which is why I think making resolutions don't work.

Resolutions are one of those things I whisper to myself the day after new years and by March I already forgot about them. Last year, I made some resolutions. I must admit, I hardly looked back all year to even try to make them happen. But, I have a new job I love, I got a new apartment and have been very blessed that slowly but surely I made way for positive people. Less of the negative. All that without even remembering what my resolutions were!

2011 Resolutions:

-sew more
-get healthy
-work twice as hard
-take more photographs
-save tons of money to travel
-bake
-paint and silk screen again!
-drink less booze
-get rid of the negative people

Four out of nine is a complete failure in my book. But, what have I been doing wrong? Everything. Once I looked back at these [today] I noticed I barely jotted down some real resolutions. Bake? How about turning on the stove and buying some flour. Easy as that. Now looking back I would have erased all of them, except for getting healthy. Resolutions or intentions, as I now call them, are all about change. But in my case, it's a chain of issues. If one doesn't get fixed, the other won't work properly. Now, if I had taken the time to ask myself what is it that I really wanted to do with my 2011 year I would have things so differently. But, I decided to erase that. New year, new intentions.

2012 Intentions:
-Work hard at my job so I can save money for future plans.
-Forgive and let go of all the negative people.
-Learn how to improve my health by getting proper treatment for my conditions.
-Prioritize and make room for well being.
-Make way for all the positive and be able to give back.

These are the intentions I will constantly remind myself that I can make happen. Because one intention, will lead to the other. Perception is Projection. To an UNSTUCK year! What were your intentions for this year? Do you make resolutions? How does that work out for ya? If you're on the 'make change' bandwagon and want to get unstuck, I highly suggest reading these Top 12 Happiness tips for 2012 by Gabrielle Bernstein

Prioritize and make room for well being.

That really strikes a cord for me and I think is something a lot of people are aiming for in 2012. I realize that my own life is so full of busy-ness that it's not always full of happiness. Now I try to work on my different projects when the time is right and spend some down time reading, going on walks, watching movies, etc. Good luck following through on your 2012 intentions!

@Sarah It's the hardest one to follow too. Getting caught up in so many things and saying "I'll make room later" all of a sudden, two months of no free time. Just work. Let's make room for happiness in 2012!

Good luck to you too!

Well I've gotta say I think you deserve a bit more credit! I've followed you for about a year now and watched as you did some crazy "do what you love" focus and manifested a happier life for yourself! Keep up that kind of energy this year and who knows??? I can't wait to watch all of your new successes!

@Ajax Oh thanks! <3 Truly blushing over here! :) Definitely keeping it UP!
